Situation

As part of the inaugural Sakura Blue exercise our Taiwanese friends have deployed troops to the islands of Tarama, Ishigaki, and Iriomote playing the part of invading forces for our us to expel. For their purposes we are playing the part of hostile forces attempting an invasion of their sovereign territory.

Current weather forecasts indicate some light storm activity during the week ahead. This region is known for typhoons at this time of year, however we are assured by the meteorological office that there is no current indication of any tropical lows or tropical storms developing. Regardless of any inclement weather encountered during the exercise it is vital that our mission objectives are achieved.

Enemy Forces

Taiwan

The entire RoCN and RoCAF are participating in the exercise, with significant support from the RoCA. While Taiwanese forces occupy the islands of Tarama, Ishigaki, and Iriomote--as well as a number of smaller outlying islands--it is believed that they have not had time to consolidate their positions.

Your primary targets are the forces occupying the island of Tarama, where the Taiwanese have established a forward operating base. The Taiwanese amphibious ships are a close second priority and should be eliminated as a priority to maximise Taiwanese losses and force an end to the conflict.

Friendly Forces

You have been allocated a significant portion of the JASDF, JMSDF and JGSDF forces to achieve your objectives. In order to properly simulate a response to a surprise invasion of our sovereign territory, the forces under your command are at a heightened peace-time posture. You will need to sortie the majority of your naval vessels from port, and arrange the deployment of embarked aircraft as appropriate.

The majority of our air power is concentrated within the Home Islands, and will need to be forward deployed closer to the area of operations in order to be most effective. You have additional forces available to requisition (see Logistics), however in order to allow other commanders to respond to eventualities in their areas of responsibility it is expected you will requisition further forces sparingly and make maximum utility of those that are assigned.

Mission

Clear the islands of Tarama, Ishigaki, and Iriomote of Taiwanese presence while inflicting maximum losses to deter any Taiwanese attempts to re-take the islands.

Execution

Establish air and naval patrols in the vicinity of the islands of Tarama, Ishigaki, and Iriomote.
Identify and interdict Taiwanese forces as necessary to ensure the removal of Taiwanese forces from Tarama, Ishigaki, and Iriomote.
Minimise friendly casualties.
Inflict maximum losses on Taiwanese forces in order to bring a swift end to the conflict.

Logistics

Additional air units are available for requisition
Munitions held in central reserve may be requisitioned and sent to airbases as desired.
